In this tutorial, I will be demonstrating a number of ways to fix the problem of 100% disk usage in Windows, especially Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Some typical signs of this problem include an obvious slowdown in the overall performance of your windows, system lags, unresponsive apps and processes, disk utilization percentage nearing or consistently on 100%, unusually loud noise from the cooling fan as if your processor or graphics card is under extreme use. The following suggestions were covered in this video:
1. Disable Windows Search Service
2. Check your disk defragmentation configuration
3. Update your device drivers
4. Disable Superfetch
5. Reset Virtual Memory
6. Check the configuration of your AHCI PCIe
7. Disable Windows Update Service
8. Disable Automatic Windows Update Service:
If everything fails, you might consider backing up your files and reinstalling Windows. If you set to do that, you can check the procedure I showed in this video:
on how to back up your files before installing a fresh copy of Windows.

Gonnna downgrade to Windows XP anyone?
Check the disk defragmentation configuration worked for me!
I had 100% disk usage when I clicked the video, as I was watching I was curious if anything changed so I opened task manager and then…0% disk usage, i waited one more minute and then 46% (now is back to 2% lol)
thank u bros, stopping superfetch seems to do the job
microsoft claims that windows 10 will be easier to use, ironically that's not the case
Thank you so much! I have been plagued by this for months and couldn't figure out the issue! Following your steps for resetting the virtual memory did the trick for me (at 10:00)
Thank you sooo much! I went from 98%/100% disc to around 2% after I disabled the Superfetch/SysMain!
I just disabled the "windows search" and my DISK USAGE drops to 0%
Why can’t Microsoft just make an OS that actually works??
That awkward moment when task manager is not responding
Thanks for taking the time to put this video together, I used the 1st 2 solutions and everything was fine
i love you man
Microsoft renamed SuperFetch to SysMain
Try this too, it will reduce disk usage by another 25%. Go To Settings>System>Notifications & actions> when you get there turn off 'Notifications ' plus untick 'Show me the Windows welcome experience etc' and untick 'Get tips, tricks etc'. Restart your computer and enjoy your reduced disk usage👍
Can anyone write a batch file to do all this??
very long and explained video but very useful thank you
Great video. Appreciate the effort 🙂
thanks a lot
Bro I love u thanks a 😍😍🥰🥰💋💋
Saved my Lappy so many times…. thanks bro
you are the man sir
The windows 10 creators should jump from a cliff…
Many Thanks for your help. Interesting tutorial. What worked for me was to change the configuration of AHCI PCIe
I did the first step and my pc has benn restarring for the last 30 minutes. Help?
i couldnt hear this video over my disk
Slight issue I cannot type it’s disabled me from that
I turned off defragmentation schedule and it instantly alleviated the problem.
Usually windows defrags when I leave the computer alone for a while and stops when I start using it again, but this time it kept going even whilst I using the computer and downloading files which caused it to peak at 100% for over 2 hours. When I turned off defrag it instantly went down a much more tolerable 20%.
thxxx maaaan
You can try all the possible solutions and restart at one only XD 😀
tons of thanks👍👍🙏
You're awesome! This fixed my problem instantly! Thanks for posting!
i upgraded to windows 7 from windows 10
My disc usage goes down To 10% after like 5 minutes
Thank you so much for this ❤️
Just use ssd for windows 10
I dont usually comment on tech vids, but oh my lord this was great. Im so happy, i thought my computer was just dead in the water. Absolutely amazing dude.
